Target x Stranger Things 5

When Stranger Things 5 was announced, we knew it would be one of the biggest cultural moments of the year. To meet fans in that moment, Target couldn’t just sell the merchandise. We had to step inside Hawkins, 1987.

In partnership with Netflix and the Duffer Brothers, we reimagined what Target would have looked like in 1987, before the world turned NMOꓷ ƎꓷISԀꓵ. The campaign transformed the brand’s own heritage into a cinematic storytelling platform that lived authentically within the Stranger Things universe.

As Senior Art Director (and super-fan) I helped shape the campaign from concept through production, developing the pitch, hero films, and integrated ecosystem spanning broadcast, digital, in-store, and experiential.

This partnership shows what happens when two passionate teams come together. We took the running gag of Ted Wheeler’s obliviousness and placed him in the one place everyone loves to escape to: Target. Our partners at Target approached the campaign as genuine fans of ‘Stranger Things,’ and it shows in every detail of the campaign.
